how much do u pay for health insurance?

For you guys that don't have any...why not?

Srs question.

Edit: To answer OP's question: about $260/mo with BCBS. Healthy, single 33 year old white male non-smoker.

Ever hear the term "pre-existing condition"? Try getting insurance with that and you'll soon see it's cheaper to not even have insurance. Not that it matters, I get everything written off anyway. ;)

Ever hear of exclusionary rider?

Do you guys know if it's cheaper the younger you are? I feel like it would be. Also, does anyone know if a parents health insurance can cover you if your out of state? Lets say my rents health insurance is in PA but i'm in FL.

thats decent considering i hold BCBS at the top of health insurance providers. whats you deductible like?

350/month for all of the shit with mine. Includes dental/vision/script/etc.

Though, I am a fat fuck so I'm sure that goes into it.

whats your deductable like? i like that all that stuff is included.

I love the insurance business. <3

biggest ponzi scheme ever

Does anyone have ANY resources/suggestions pointing out decent companies for those of us that are self-employed?

I have been getting some ridiculous quotes and questions/requirements from companies here in California. Am I going to have to go out and marry someone with good employer-provided insurance to not get screwed basically?

I'm a pretty healthy 27 yr old male, nonsmoker, but these companies are essentially telling me to screw off with their endless letters and questioning random medical shit over the last few years. Example, the idiots couldn't get over the fact that I was prescribed hydrocodone a year ago for minor plastic surgery (that procedure was not covered by insurance anyways lol)

Any fellow self-employed Californians wanna chime in with suggestions for the self-employed?

Yeah... but that doesn't make your insurance any cheaper.
But, you still CAN get insurance. Not to mention you can work with someone to get a small group policy through your hosting biz.

Check out ehealthinsurance.com, you can get some decent quotes on that site.

I never said I couldn't... but why would I? I've had every single medical bill I've ever had written off by hospitals since I turned 18. If you know what paperwork to fill out and who to talk to, you'll never have a hospital bill. And regular checkups at a doctor only cost about $50 per visit. Same for the dentist. No reason at all to pay $40/day for insurance.

Why pay 5k a year for something I rarely use? I go to the doc when needed. It cost a few hundred bucks to get checked out. I pay for my own dental which is about $200 a year (6 month cleaning), I don't eat sugar so I don't get cavities. So about 300 bucks a year in medical. Why would I pay 5k a year? So I can pay for unhealthy people or needy people to use it?

A wide range of plans are available. A healthy 30 year old can get basic plans for about $30 a month (in some states at least). Under such a plan the person might still pay the same for visits and such, but they wouldn't have to pay $50,000+ for emergency surgery.

I just got a letter that mine is going up. From $58 to $63 per month. I have a $3,000 deductible and total out of pocket of $5,000. I also get 2 doctor visits per year for $25 copay I think.

Mine is just to protect my assets. Which is what insurance is supposed to be for anyway.

Mine is 16.00 a month but its a HSA account, it works well, Single member on the account, my employer pays the rest and dumps 150.00 per month in a HSA bank account, which I use for Health things like doctor visits, Rx etc....its a blue cross account

you are young and have no family. if you are healthy, get the high deductible to cover your ass for major stuff. pay for the small stuff as it comes, since it will be cheaper if you don't go often, compared to what you would have to pay in higher premiums.

with a wife and kids, expect to pay 10-12k/year

If you have a corporation with at least 2 eligible employees, you can qualify to get group rates and they can't turn you down for pre-existing conditions.

Also, take a look at AFLAC, as a secondary insurance to cover your deductibles.

So what would you do if you needed surgery that cost $100,000+ ? remember people don't plan on getting sick. . .it just happens
