Clean energy does not exist in ANY form.
Solar produces arsenic and other heavy metals.
Wind always requires backup NG generators to deal with times of low wind (Even more so than solar).
Nuclear has a insane amount of energy for a little bit of waste. Nuclear is ONLY danger because environmentalists have made it that way. More people around the world have died from radiation released by coal than all nuclear disasters combined.
All developed nations that I'm aware of currently utilize nuclear power. Just because we have price-anderson doesn't mean we couldn't do it. We could say that banks wouldn't exist without FDIC and other insurance rules that limit their risk.
As a whole, nuclear power companies have paid more, and had lower margins because of price-anderson and the trade-off laws associated with it than it has benefited from the liability limits.
Furthermore , coal COULD have a extremely useful future if people would stop believing what the media says about it. We actually have a coal power plant here in southern Ohio (Not far from where I'm at) that produces only one byproduct from the production of electricity - High quality diesel fuel.
Could you imagine what the US would be like if for every ton of coal you burnt, you would also get 1,000 gallons of high quality, 95% clean (Compared to standard low-sulphur) diesel fuel? It can be done, however politicians don't want it to exist.
Then you start using wood for power
And Methane.
BTW, since 2002 they've been combining Wind with Solar.
