the sole purpose of any public educational system is to stomp out every bit of curiosity and enthusiasm a child may actually have towards anything.
if there is a subject a child is passionate about before they find out a school offers a class on it, there will be a child who lost their passion for that subject a year later. public schools have a strong tendency to make things seem boring, whether they are or not.
then when you're so bored out of your mind in class because of how tedious they make what should be even the most exciting things, that you just mentally check out to preserve your sanity, you get some tenured asshole on your back telling you how if you won't do a bunch of mind numbing tutorials, you're kidding yourself if you think you will be making a living with it.
nevermind that you know the material better than the teacher does. nevermind the adage "those that can't, teach". nope.. don't do homework, you get to hear a few times a week how you're going to be a loser when you grow up.
and that was just when i was in school.. over a decade ago now. kids have it even harder today.
teachers treat their students with the same disdain an angst filled teenager has for the customers at his fast food gig. except the fast food guy is more justified because people really do treat him like shit.
teachers hate their students because "they're too stupid to get normal test scores, the whole fucking class" (yeah, seen this enough times to consider it a typical attitude of many teachers), couldn't possibly be that they may be bad at their job.
and if a kid decides he doesn't like be treated like a retard? too bad. if the kid doesn't go to school, he gets charged with truancy, and if that escalates, hello juvenile detention, here's another rascal for you, we'll keep em coming.
