Obama needs to STOP fucking BOWING to everyone.

Carter was a pussy and our enemies (and some allies too) laughed at us.

Obama = Carter

Actually I'd say most of the world has respect for the USA again since Obama came along. Can you imagine Sarah Palin as President? Then you''d see the entire world laughing.

If anything, he's taking a harder stance in Afghanistan and Pakistan than Bush; is still in Iraq, and has not closed Guantanomo, so I don't think he's acting like a weakling.

It's tiresome how you douchebag libs have no way to counter any criticism without bringing Bush up.
But Bush got us into two wars! Afghanistan, which he fucked up as it was about to be won, and Operation: Piss off the Planet.

Your insults are very entertaining, but I can't hang out in STS so much. Gotta work. I'll try to insult you later. :love-smiley-087:

Once again, no substance whatsoever. Not surprising at all.

The "world" doesn't respond to weakness. The world ONLY responds to strength and BO just doesn't measure up.

Spoken like a true thug.

And surely if someone doesn't like it, it's clearly because they hate our freedom, and not because of any other reason.

The entire American culture is built on rooting for the underdog. The one being oppressed/pushed down by a much stronger entity which doesn't believe in diplomacy, but only in forcing its will onto others. An entity that is often shown to employ clearly flawed logic to rationalize its tyranny with necessity. And the underdog, through great willpower and unimaginable sacrifice, against all odds, manages to take down that entity and come out as the winner in the end.

How many best-selling stories, books, movies, tv shows produced for the consumption of the American public are based on this premise?

Why is that?

Are you really that clueless? The underdog story is so popular here due to the parallels construed with our own founding.

No shit. The question is why do so many Americans side with the thug mentality when dealing with others while at the same time holding so dearly the fairy tale of the founding fathers.

One only needs to look at Obama's henchmen: ACORN, IBEW, SEIU and the Black Panther Party for examples of the thug mentality in America.

No doubt. I wasn't saying that Obama is somehow different. Presidents don't run this country. The rich people do.

Of course, that puts the right-wingers in a tough spot. You can't blame Obama for being weak while claiming his a thug at the same time.

Having said that, the question remains: why do so many Americans side with the thug mentality when dealing with others while at the same time holding so dearly the fairy tale of the founding fathers?

What's the big deal? If he's trying to get along with foreign peoples and cultures, and get shit done, why does it matter if he bows to someone out of respect because it is a major part of their culture?

PS: Usually I just post "Sup guys" in these political/religious threads but this topic comes up a lot and it makes me wonder why some people really hate that he does this. I don't like talking about politics/religion so don't think for a SECOND that I'm backing up Obama, or talking shit about him either.

The alpha male doesn't bow to other people. They bow to HIM.

I personally think the leader of the "free world", or what's left of it, should have more bravado.

"Alpha male" doesn't mean he needs to be the leader of some caveman tribe that mercilessly kills people and has a harem of 1000 women [Bush, Clinton]. But it does mean that he is the one being respected and honored by all those around him, not the other way around.

This is just really a microcosm of something much more important.

Congress runs this country. Rich people just have to bend over and get penalized for being rich. When you say thug I think of rogue countries like North Korea or Iran.

If you think shedding American blood for freedom is somehow tied to thuggery that's just messed up.

We need the strongest military in the world. He who has the best military will have more leverage and control.

Congress runs this country.

ROFL. Shit. You owe me 3 cents for the amount of coffee I just spilled.

When you say thug I think of rogue countries like North Korea or Iran.

Could it be because you've been conditioned to think that?

When one person is clearly superior in strength or power and still chooses to act with humility -- it instills respect, the kind of respect that can't be bought or forced.

The whole who bows to whom argument is only valid when two parties are of more-or-less equal power, and are actually challenging each other. Only then the stray dog logic might play some role.

It's not like the foreign leaders will start to think that their military is now somehow more powerful just because Obama bowed to them.

If you want a confirmation of how delusional you are, try searching foreign press for instances of them ridiculing Obama for bowing to their respective leaders.

I don't think you'll find anyone saying "Oh year, we fucking own America now! Their bitch in chief just bowed to our (insert title). From this moment forward, we are clearly the new and only world's superpower!"

If anything, they would be more willing to cooperate with the US or at least not stand in the way.

As a matter of fact, the only instances of foreign press I can find that discuss this stuff are all about how Americans got upset because it "diminishes" their national pride.

He can act with humility and respect by shaking hands, nobody should be bowing to anyone. These are world leaders who are supposed to be on a level plane, not someone bowing to their karate class sensei.

Ha. Dude, congress can over ride veto with 2/3 vote. In the end, they are the ones creating the bills and passing them into law (with a Presidential sig). The President can't do too much but parade around for PR and hand out incentives to the members of congress to support pieces of legislation he wants to ram rod through. He also has the power to use executive orders.
