ok, have nearly finished work on my site, i am still working on debugging Fucking Internet Explorer (works great in IE8, chrome and FF) but other than that it would be good to get some positive criticism from you guys.
The site is Web 2.0 Designs

can you define web 2.0?

Web 2.0 Is a very difficult term to precisely define.
It is the emergence and explosion of highly interactive social networks.
It is the second generation of web design and interactivity.
It is making web look, feel and act cool!
I have attempted to capture some of that with my designs, and can even build you something that fits within your vision of "web 2.0"!

....

Well, web 2.0 is actually defined by interactivity / user driven content, not design.

But, some design choices have been made popular during the same time frame, so they are normally considered "web 2.0"

things such as:

- Areas of flat, bright colour
- lots of whitespace
- Use of big fonts

I mean no disrespect casben but how can you offer web 2.0 web design services & have that as your domain if you don't know what you are doing?

I see homepages like that advertising local plumbing services that look like they were done by the plumber's high school kid in computer lab. Using a site like that to sell design is gonna kill you. I'd take it offline and learn about design before attempting to sell design.

So, my kid says to me about the site "Dad, maybe dude is goin for a retro look."

- No water backgrounds
- No cheesy looking letters

but seriously, there is some really good learning material out there on web design. search demonoid or isohunt. read a few books, watch a few videos, scrap this website, and start again when you've learned a bit more. if you're selling web design, you need to make sure your site looks great, with all the modern styles and techniques.

Assuming your trying to sell your services and this site isn't one big experiment....

Look for the firefox addon web developer toolbar by Chris Pederick and run the validation tests. Get it validated and add the W3C logos to add authority to your site.

Your homepage rambles on about web 2.0. What your customers really want to know is why they should pick you to build their site. Most won't know or care what web 2.0 is.

Your grammer must be spot on - get someone to proof read your copy.

You have one of those awful gadgets. Put your phone number on all pages of your site and ditch the gadget thing. You look like a nice guy your clients would love to speak with you.

Why are you putting adcents on your page? This only feeds your competition.

Don't link off to other templates because you haven't done any. Make some or remove the links. See above.

You need some testimonials and a portfolio.

I like you. Do you like me?

If I LOL and nobody hears me, does it mean I am not LOL'ing at all? This is more like Web 1.4. Just look at any "web 2.0" websites like twitter.com, wordpress.com or even jquery.com and you should quickly be able to see that your website does not fall into that category.
