Thai Fishing industry Slavery

My pal took a wrong turn in the hotel the other night and ended up in the staff Restroom, he said it looked identical the to toilet scene from the movie Trainspotting.

This is how a 5* Resort in Chiang Mai treats it's workers.

Man... this really sucks. I gotta worry about giving my GF blood diamonds, I gotta worry about whether my electronics were made by low wage slaves and now I gotta worry if my skrimps are fished by slaves?

Grindstone is right.
I think the local government has to take some steps towards this.
We are in 21st century and this kind of things are really horrible.

Are you serious? The .gov is not the solution to the problem, it is the problem.

Edit:: With all this talk about shrimpin, think im going to go to bubba gumps for lunch.

This story must be false. Everyone knows that only white people enslave people and slavery started in 1776.

Half of you entrepreneurial motherfuckers would be the first to own slaves back in the day ;)

But yeh, fuck this shit.

You'll need a catchy name, off the top of my head: The Bitcoin Anarchist Freedom Fighter. Peeps could call you BAFFman. < hmmm not bad...
No thanks speed racer, I'll leave the stripey jumpsuits to you.

Yay free market. Can't wait for the glorious arrival of anarcho-capitalism so we can have lots more of this.
Congrats on leaving the most moronic comment on the thread. Why do so many idiots fail to see that this can't exist without the local government supporting it?

For fuck sake, in the video they even demonstrated this when the interviewer was talking to the slaver who was also the cop that protects the boat captains?

If the government was removed from the equation, either there or in the US pre-1865, it would be pretty much impossible for the slavers to keep on slaving... They'd have no protection from people wanting to free the slaves and the slaves would have somewhere to run to.

It's nice to see that LukeP finally woke up and realized that Thailand isn't some libertarian paradise like he mistakenly thought.
When did I call it libertarian? I knew about their corrupted public sector and unfair class systems long before I first visited wickedfire.

Touche and huge irony because the first custom made triple layer fire suit I had made is indeed a stripped red and blue with white thread. Lmao - cause I been pwned by my own comments. I'm not saying that shit wasn't funny though because it sure the fuck was.

Oh, and all fucking around aside it is a real shit situation over there.

You pretty bluntly claimed that Thailand has more freedoms than the "USSA" (as you love to call it) and that any bad laws that Thailand may have are "for reference only" and aren't really enforced.

Now you are doing a complete 180.

I'm glad you've matured a bit in your worldview though.

So when are you planning on leaving the US again? I mean from what I understand, you still hate it and want to move to greener pastures.

LOL. And you're calling me an idiot? You actually believe the drivel you wrote? Have some self-awareness, man, of your moronic assumptions and complete ignorance of how humans behave when no one is around to smack down their insane greed.

But yeh, fuck this shit.

Yup. And they'd justify it with their self-serving convoluted logic based on their arbitrary values of what is good and what isn't.

"Uh, you're a slave? Well, obviously you didn't work hard enough not to become a slave. Have the government get involved to end your slavery? No way. SLIPPERY SLOPE of government meddling. Besides, slaves have pulled themselves up from their bootstraps in the past, so, yea, try that. If government gets involved then it raises the cost of labor and what will happen to the poor capitalists? They will only have six yachts each instead of five. Fuck that lifestyle! Fucking socialism!"

I've been too busy with new startups this year to give it any thought... But this country is going down the shitter faster than I originally thought so I'm going to be forced to go do some scouting in South America, likely Chile, later this year/early next year.

You actually believe the drivel you wrote? Have some self-awareness, man, of your moronic assumptions and complete ignorance of how humans behave when no one is around to smack down their insane greed.
So you can't refute my points and simply throw out ad hom attacks with no backing? Pathetic.

If you were half the man you think you are, you'd address these three points you dismissed:

A: In the video they even demonstrated this when the interviewer was talking to the slaver who was also the cop that protects the boat captains...

B: If the government was removed from the equation, either there or in the US pre-1865, it would be pretty much impossible for the slavers to keep on slaving... They'd have no protection from people wanting to free the slaves...

C: ...and the slaves would have somewhere to run to.

If I'm such an idiot, it should be easy for you to point out the fatal flaws in these three points I made, right?

And they'd justify it with their self-serving convoluted logic based on their arbitrary values of what is good and what isn't.
Because it's so convoluted to believe that the initiation of force (aggression) is always wrong?

A fire; Go die in it.
