What the hell, here's my noob journal

If you have Scrapebox you could comment with auto approve blogs to your site. So no mod is going to take your comments down.

Hey, I'm interested in following your progress. I've been dicking around in IM for a while but never at near 100%.

Wow, that is a beautiful theme. Love the colors and slightly-non-grid-y layout. Of course, good design doesn't always lead to good conversions. Some niches appreciate nice themes, others appreciate animated sparkle gifs. Perhaps pick a timespan with relatively few other variables and A/B test another layout? You should probably wait until you've got statistically significant (~100/day) traffic to go crazy, though.

On another note, I wouldn't hesitate to blast comments through Xrumer. It can really help speed up the indexation process and IMO comments are higher value links than profiles.

Atlasj, thanks a lot for your output, it's been really helpful !

You're right, I'll wait till I get more traffic before touching anything design-related.

About blasting the comments with xrumer, maybe you're right. Problem is I didn't take notes to where exactly I posted comments haha, lesson learned I guess.

Thanks for your input. Looks like you have been banned but I'll still reply for all the people reading my journal :

I won't go crazy with auto-comments directly on my blog for now, for reasons I wrote above : my site is still fairly new and spamming the shit out of it would make it disappear out of sight.

Thanks for your input. Here's the best advice I got here on WF : stop dicking around and start doing something. Doing nothing will get you nowhere. So start doing anything, even if it sucks, you'll be learning lots and start making some monies eventually.

OK for the replies. Here's some update :

I finally started ranking for my main keyword. It is around the 150th position in google. I'm also ranking for two other of my main keywords and the last keyword comes in and out repeatedly, raping the shit out of google's dirty ass.

23 links are indexed now, so I guess I will rank better when google picks the rest of the links.

Also scraped huge lists of blog this week-end, for more manual commenting on related-blogs.

That's it for now, any input is welcome so shoot away !

Spent the last two days looking for the exact pages of my comments up till now, and sent a good xrumer blast to them.

I also made some change to the layout of my blog, adding a huge high-quality 1000 words article comparing a lot of products of my kw, so the lesser quality content is not visible on the front page but still adds up to the total content.

Traffic and SERP not moving much lately. I'm starting to get bored commenting other blogs and not seeing much change. Getting impatient. If there is any method to speed shit up, I'd like to know it.

I'm just getting started too. From day 1, I decided that I'm not going to check rankings and # of backlinks every single day. I'm too new and I'd drive myself mad. I'd suggest only taking a peak at your stats every few days (at most) or even just once a week.

My theory is that the goal of my first site isn't to make the monies but to learn the process. I get up early to work on stuff before I come into the office, then work on things more at night when I get home. I deal with content and any other manual work first, then about an hour before I come to work (mornings) or an hour before I go to bed (when working at night) I put together everything I need in order to run Scrapebox. This way, Scrapebox runs twice/day. At least that's the plan.

Hey jmizzle and thanks for the great input.

You're right, I'm making myself crazy over SERPS looking at them every day and many times a day. I need to calm down and look at the whole image.

Your plan seems nice but I wonder how you are using scrapebox. Until now, I mainly used it to scrape blogs related to my content. Are you using the auto commenter ? You can PM me if you want to talk about the details.

I feel like I need to learn how to use scrapebox better, but that's part of my learning curve.

No update today and the next days, back to work. Will report if there's some change.

To be totally blunt, I'm a retard when it comes to scrapebox. I'm watching tutorials every day and learning more every chance I can get. I have been using it for scraping data/blogs, index new content I put up and trying to post blog comments.

With regards to blog commenting, the only backlinks I have up to now are from manual comments I have made. For whatever reason, not a single one of my SB comments are showing but I have probably only had about 200 posts confirmed (posted and verified).

I keep a file with all the comments that are successful then every 3-5 days, I have SB check the pages to see if they show up on the blog page. Any verified links are put added to a different file that I may run every couple weeks, more for my own curiosity to see if any get removed.

Like I said initially, I'm a complete retard with SB so I'm sure there is a whole lot I'm doing wrong or doing that is inefficient/ineffective.

Amazon is not easy to start with ! Do French people read a lot of books ? I would start with adsense and then try ebay and amazon.

Amazon sucks (no offence) Try to make normal seo for your website, it will take some time but at the end you will have stable money site.

I won't lie to you : I'm a total retard with SB too. I'm using it mainly for scraping blogs and forums.

I have a huge list of auto-approve blogs I bought on BST, but don't know what the fuck I should do with it hahaha.

Thanks for the input still.

French people do read books, even though they're mostly retards like me. I would love to do adsense but I got banned for doing stupid shady stuff and opening a new account is too much a hassle for now. And I personally think that ebay sucks.

GettingTop>

Yes, Amazon does suck but as I stated before, I am here to learn stuff. And what do you mean with normal SEO ? I'm already building links if that's what you mean.

Some quick update :

Market samurai is getting crazy and doesn't show any ranking and backlinks. A nice way to tell me to STFU and to get back to work.

The change of layout seems like it is getting me more clicks on amazon, but it's too soon to tell because the numbers are still low.

One PR5 blog I commented on had some crazy widget that made my comment appear on ALL pages of the blog, so I woke up from having 30 BL in yahoo to 130 this morning woot ! Need to find more of those.

I'll continue adding links every day to my site but I won't touch the content anymore and I will only add content sometimes, maybe once every two weeks.

That means I'll have more time to start a new site ! I still don't know if it will be an english or french site. Each has its advantages : It's easier to rank French sites but there's more ways to get links for English sites. I'd appreciate any input about that.

Might also try to get new hosting. Bluehost's shared hosting feels too slow for the price. Any recommendations ? Heard good things about zensix.

Some quick news :

Just got myself a new domain for a 3 words KW that gets 5400 exact searches a month.

Got a new hosting at zensix, that is cheap and of good quality. Setting up wordpress was a pain in the @$$ though, but the customer service was fast and top notch (got a reply to a ticket in 2 minutes WOW!!)

No amazon offer this time, but a real affiliate program of a well established site that pays 25% commission for each sale.

As a test, this time I'll try and send links from the BST section and see if it has any effect on a French site.

Writing good content on this kw is a bitch though. I'll use the home page to sell/recommend the product and other pages for lower quality content.

My first site is still dancing around in google, with all kw around the 200th position in google, only my main keyword is around 400. It will take some time to stabilize I think.

Wow, I do link building totally different than you folks at wicked fire. Scrapebox and XRumer sound fun though.

Do XRumer blasts show trackbacks in wordpress? Are you running your own XRumer or purchasing the service?

I really hate to say it, but SEO is measured in weeks, or months. You'll drive yourself nuts checking stats and worrying about every little up and down.

Just build more sites or go outside.

I don't point xrumer blasts to any wordpress blogs, just tried some on classic old school blogs. xrumer blasts don't show trackbacks to wordpress.

Even if I had the money to buy xrumer, I would so get lost on how to use it, so for now, I'm just buying blasts from the BST section. Andrey there has good prices and quick turnaround time.

You are totally right. I just love watching numbers, it's like when watching the dl speed and the completion percentage when downloading something : fucking useless but you can't stop yourself doing it.

Plus it helps me getting a feel on what works and what doesn't.

Maybe you can tell me how you are building links ?

Woke up this morning with a good surprise in my amazon associate account : someone ordered for like 500 euros of products after clicking on my site.

The order isn't sent yet so it may change but if it doesn't, it will be my first conversion with this site, and a good one at that.

Traffic came from a wikipedia link I put there and that no one edited yet so I feel lucky.

This teached me something else : if I get to number 1 for all my keywords, I will get far more conversions and lots of monies.

So here's something I want to tell to myself : STFU and get back to work.

I sure will !

Can i ask, did you get VPS hosting or shared hosting at zensix?

Nice one.
I remember reading somewhere once one guy writing about how you needed a dedicated server if you were serious, but if you're just starting out and trying to learn the ropes I didn't understand what was wrong with getting shared hosting.
Good luck with your plans - I've subscribed so hope to read about your successes in the future.

Thanks for the props.

I think I read the same thing here somewhere. I think it's better to get VPS if you had a lot of domains and/or traffic but I'm nowhere close that right now so it will be shared hosting for some time I guess.

Some news.

Took everything to a new level by suscribing to DFB. This shit rocks, period. Using it to point to money site and Tier 1 sites. My main kw got to position 2 in Bing haha.

After 2 blasts, most of my keywords disappeared of the ranking in google, but are still indexed. I am not afraid of getting sandboxed, because I know I will come back stronger. Now my site must be only dancing around and I am sure it will come back pretty soon.

BTW, this site made me 25 euros hahaha.

Work has been busy lately so not much link building but I found a French guy here on this forum that has been teaching me lots of great stuff for French SEO. kultissim, if you read me thanks man !

Will try to see what I can do with the learning mode of scrapebox to automatically post to the most famous blog platform in France. That would help A LOT.

Really nice work mate. You are taking action and that is what matters. You are going to have tough weeks where your site loses ground and you are going to wonder if you should keep going. Dont ever give up, keep moving forward and you will hit your financial goals.

Good Luck!
