What's the point of "Occupy Wall Street"?

New word
Ineptocracy(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) -a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

I ran across the following today (this is the kind of stuff that makes my skin crawl):

Conor Friedersdorf's rebuttal.
It's a fucking forum. Like Wickedfire.

Proposals have to be adopted by consensus: it requires massive support - generally 90-100%(depending on the situation) to adopt something. This means that things like what you posted are really not ever going to become anything official or real.

I realize this. If you were under the impression I was implying anything different, you were mistaken.

I posted it as an example of the misguided notions I have seen coming from OWS supporters/advocates. I have seen few ideas with true merit.

I graduated with honors from one of the top universities in the country. My field projects a $40K-100K annual income and my work was always beyond exemplary so I got hired right out of school to a company that was a perfect fit for my skills where I could really grow and live up to my potential. But the year I graduated was 2008, the year the economy crashed, so within 4 months, in an unprecedented move, the company let go of almost its entire workforce including myself. Unable to pay rent I lost my apartment and since then, I have made less than $1000 a year in odds and ends jobs despite applying for over 1200 entry level positions, online, in person, through personal contacts and networks, and in various major cities including NYC and Los Angeles. I’ve gone to over 20 interviews, yet no one will hire me-they all seem to be “shopping the market” to see who’s available rather than really being committed to taking on a new hire. My school loans still total over $20K. Once the epitome of an independent responsible overachiever, top of my class, expected to innovate and transform my industry and become a future leader of tomorrow (as not one, but 3 different professors had remarked to me over the years), I now live at home with my Mom and work at a grocery store (making minimum wage.)

I am the 99 percent.

Unfortunately, I don't think this guy is a part of the 99% that he thinks he's a part of.

This should be the official song for Occupy. Megadeth, always on the ball.

Secret bureaucracy, it’s just a lie
The devil’s henchmen, in suit and tie
A sacred brotherhood; an ancient rite
Politicians and the double lives they hide

Violate your rights, no more equality
Surrender freedom, your Social Security
We, the people face unconstitutional lies
In greed we trust, in revolution we die

Our founding fathers are rolling in their graves
The land of liberty needs a regime change
Until you no longer know right from wrong
The constitution isn’t worth the paper it’s written on

Screams from the future, warn of calamity
The coming plagues of the new disease
The illuminati, one world currency
One world religion, one World everything

This is pretty good:

^ There's a reason why the corporations donate practically nothing to Ron Paul. Corporations would not exist as we know them without government. No government = no bailouts, no special benefits for Walmart, etc.

It built up well, but had a really weak ending... Couldn't really hear RP's little snippet, nor did they explain how Paul is relevant to this cause IMO.

Paul's Camp is really missing the boat by not targeting these folks fully. There needs to be a serious, no-holds-barred effort by Paul's ppl to put every relevant quote of his in front of the demands of OWS... Across every site on the internet mentioning their demands/problems/etc.

Futher, there needs to be a SOLID action plan presented to OWS that states it should motivate its' members to all register republican right now and vote Paul in the repub primaries. Without that effort RP can't win, so it really is the last chance OWS has to use RP at all.

anonymous is run by a governmental organization(s) IMO.
Yeah, because obviously these "governmental organization(s)" want less governmental control, less public satisfaction with the government, and far greater transparency in everything the government does.

Instead of constricting information from its inevitable release, governments now simply muddy the waters with so much disinformation that nobody knows what to believe anymore.

Divide & conquer! Why only have a few sets of information out there, when you can have thousands, and really make everyone chase their own tails? :frenchman:

Anonymous is not and cannot be "run" by anyone.
It's an Athenian democracy based on the abilities of the voters instead of the percentage of support. When an idea comes up, the idea only takes off if enough people consider it a good idea to continue. It can be infiltrated(if you want to call it that) in that a government organization could submit ideas. But they cannot make them succeed or take off.

I realize this. If you were under the impression I was implying anything different, you were mistaken.
Ah, apologies.

I agree with them mostly because of the primary point; that money inside of politics is poison. Most people there realize that without this, nothing else can move forward. It's likely that if they achieve this goal, I will part ways with them for whatever agenda comes next(if anything). But for now? It's worth it.

I agree that money needs to be taken out of politics, however as time goes on OWS becomes more about promotion of a communist/socialist agenda and less about making politics better.

OWS has always been about socialism and communism. It's a bunch of angry democrats bitching and moaning because they are fucking poor. Funny part is they think if they can just get socialism or communism to take root they will be better off, too fucking dumb to realize they will be the same group of losers on the bottom under the new political system. They aren't where they are because of capitalism, they are there because that's where they belong. Jealous scumbag fucks.
