put those two lines under local hosts...

That was the worst job of debunking someone I've ever read. Poking fun at predictions that places like Dillards & middle of the road restaurants will close does not make it a false prediction. In fact, it's happening all over retail. And yes, rich people will stay rich through any upcoming depression.

It's kind of stupid, but you have to add the address with both www and non www. Don't ask me why, but I think that's why you sometimes still don't get it blocked. I was having the same issue, and that seems to work.
subdomains (www) can have a different ip than the domain itself (that was the whole point of them) so it has to do a DNS lookup

Anyway, Yeah it would be nice to debunk the guy. He's got an interesting track record. I get the feeling though, that the best way to get a reputation as a modern day Nostradamus is by getting as many of your predictions on record as possible, and getting everyone to focus on the calls you got right.
So a good question is: "How many bullshit predictions did this guy make that DIDN'T come to pass?"
I mean, he could very well have just "predicted" both outcomes then publicized the one he got right.

In other news, regardless of whether or not this guy is full of shit, I started my own little "oh shit" food cache today. Canned beans and veggies, peanut butter, tuna, and ramen. I'll just be picking up a few extra items every week when I go to the grocery and throwing them in.

That's just good sense, regardless of the presence of tinfoil hat thinking. There was a big ice storm around here recently, and some people were out of power and unable to get into town to resupply. Having enough food around for a week or a month at least would be prudent. A year would be a good goal to work toward.
Thank your for stimulating the economy. Everyone else should be out stocking up on supplies. I'll point you in the right direction.
