Nothing new. A&E also tried to get them to stop praying in Jesus name at the end of each episode ( he didn't ). The editors take that part out a lot.
I commend him for standing for his beliefs. It's unfortunate, however, that the headline of that article as well as many paraphrasing said article will state that he was "
bashing homosexuality" and "
anti-gay remarks". He wasn't bashing any group of people - but stating his beliefs. Last time I checked this is America and we're allowed to do that.
Which if you read the entire article you will see was not the case. He wasn't pointing out homosexuality - but grouping it with other sins. sin is sin. He continued to say that all sin leads to death. It's seriously wrong that all people will remember is the headline "anti gay remarks". Out of the entire interview that's all that the media "took from it". Take a look at this:
"I myself am a product of the '60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior," the TV star said in a statement released by A&E Wednesday. "My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other." - Phil Robertson
If they didn't have such an agenda against true Christianity than the article could have been, "
Duck Dynasty Dad loves all people -regardless of beliefs". How bout that? What a change in perception and agenda can do..
The same exact thing happened to the
Salvation Army a while back for "anti gay" stuff. All the headlines stated to
"Salvation Army starts war with gays".
That's what people will remember. Guess what though? If they read the actual article and not some
gossip media junk, readers will see that..
"In mid-June 2012, gay pop star Darren Hayes made comments critical of the Salvation Army's stance regarding homosexuality, referencing that organization's position statement on the subject"
Who started that "war" - it wasn't the Salvation Army. Same with this Phil Robertson stuff.. out of the interview his disagreement on homosexualty was taken as anti-gay remarks. He wasn't bashing homosexuals, but is in returned removed because of his beliefs. A&E has been trying to get rid of him for a while because he doesn't fit their cookie-cutter.
All in all it's unfortunate that if someone doesn't agree with homosexuality that it automatically is labeled as all of this hate here and anti remarks there stuff. It's merely a disagreement and should be left as such.
Shoot, I have a gay uncle. My wife has a gay cousin. We love them just the same -but don't agree with the lifestyle because of our beliefs. It's not our place to judge them, that's God's job.
I know I went full-retard there for a moment -but it's all good. I'm just extremely passionate about my beliefs and grow tired of this stuff. In the end we're all held accountable.
:EDIT:
I would really like to hear what any normal, gay webmaster, duck dynasty fan has to say about his own fucking opinion. As a gay, I would probably just chuckle, knowing how many fags are still going to be able to be fags, even after his opinion.
Thank you! You're right on with that! It's just his opinion and should be treated as such.
