greatest police badge number ever

Can you prove that?

If someone with a gun forcing you to stop your car so they can demand paperwork isn't harassment, I don't know what is.

Inspections and Emissions | Registration | Division of Motor Vehicles | NH Department of Safety

When did the officer draw his weapon? In NH, it's entirely legal to have a firearm on you, so who knew whether these guys didn't have a weapon on them as well?

Let's find some common ground here. We're all aware of and certainly have witnessed forms of police harassment. But honestly there was no harassment in this video. I watched it twice and fail to see any harassment by the officer. Now I'm wondering if I watched the same video as you did.

Guerilla, are you implying that our society would be okay without a police force or anything closely similar?

Please tell me the solution. I'm not being a smart ass, I want to know.

You make the assumption that it is not possible to have order or police without government. If government always provided shoes for everyone you would also be reticent to allow for people outside of government to provide shoes. Just because a group of people called government provides something doesn't mean another group of people not called government can't.

Police, law and courts can all be handled without government. People can hire police agencies privately to protect themselves if they so choose and those services can be paid by whichever creative methods the parties agree to (directly, insurance, etc). Disputes can be handled with private courts who compete to provide the best resolutions possible. Society is possible without government, it's just we are so used to government we never stop to think it through.

Yeap, we had that. Eventually power consolidates. Then the 'free market' allows for one to dominate. It will eventually break down. As all govs do (and all monopolies), but a monopoly can easily last 100+ years.

Suppose I closely follow your car. I have lots of flashing lights on my vehicle and persist until you stop. I get out of my vehicle and with a firearm on my side, come up to your window. I tell you to roll down your window. I tell you to open your door. Then, I tell you that I'm detaining you, and demand to see your papers.

Then, I open your door without permission, and stick my face inches away from your face. I again demand that you produce your papers. When you express a desire to close your door, I refuse to step away and demand to see your papers.

Am I not harassing you? Is police harassment something special? Is it different than "normal" harassment? If so, why?*

* Here, we return to the gist of the conversation on page 2 of this thread.

Some questions:
1. Since the argument about authority is often used, who has the authority to privatize a piece of land (so that private roads can be built or private police can work there)? or if the land was bought or inherited, how did the previous owner have the authority to just privatize a piece of land?

(i am far away from being a communist thinking that everything belongs to everyone, but just trying to understand different points of view).

2. How can disputes be resolved if 2 parties can't agree about a mediator?

3. how can private cops have authority to investigate anything, come on anyones property or punish anyone?

Firstly, are you a police officer in the jurisdiction of where I'm being pulled over? if not, then I don't have to stop. If you are, then yes, I need to stop. Otherwise I risk being arrested.

Secondly, had the driver rolled his window down to where the officer could clearly engage in conversation, the officer would not have opened the door. That was stated in the video. The officer couldn't hear him and the driver denied his request to roll down the window further.

Finally, the driver was driving his vehicle illegally due to the fact the state of NH requires vehicles to be inspected ten days after registration. His car had not been inspected.

This is not a case of harassment. The driver violated the law. This is a weak argument and furthermore a good example of libertarians losing like minded individuals over ridiculous claims like these. This video portrays the driver and his passengers as assholes. Not as freedom fighters, or exposers of grotesque governmental power. Just assholes.

If you want to see harassment, drive with a black man in towns where racial profiling is the standard.

I can do it, too.

Why is police "harassment" different from citizen harassment?

Because you're not a cop?

Contrary to what you lunatics believe, most cops are not tyrannical despots constantly plotting their next evil move.

Most people want cops in their neighborhoods as it's a good deterrent to crime. Most people don't have a problem paying $20 for a fucking inspection sticker. Most people aren't retards.

By and large, police are simply trying to do their jobs, enforce the laws, and keep people safe by deterring or preventing crime, which, contrary to the idiotic assertions from your cohorts, happens all the time.

Most normal people want to work at their job, keep their family safe, and build a happy life for themselves and their children. The cops help in that by cleaning up the streets and deterring criminals from committing crimes. And by and large, most normal people are fine with that arrangement. They're not retards who intentionally drive around without inspection stickers, and they're not murdering other people, so they're not lying awake fretting about police authority.

Yet for some reason there's retards like the people in this video, you, guerilla et al, who go out of their way to harass cops and/or act as if the citizens don't want them around.

You people are completely nuts.

If one dominates and provides bad service then it would open up an opportunity for a competitor to provide a better service for a better price. Monopolies aren't really possible in a free market.

If anything it would consolidate to 2 large companies, not one (coke vs pepsi, microsoft vs apple, etc). So you would still have choice. And the freedom to outdo these two large companies would still exist because there would never be 1 monopoly called government keeping competition out.

And even if that is the case... it is still certainly better than what we have now or with any form of government.

hellblazer, I'm a rational man and you're the last person on earth I would ever argue with.

But I always read your threads. :)

Police Force = Policy Force
Police Officer = Policy Officer
Police Enforcement = Policy EnForcement

Sworn and protect policy

Firstly, are you a police officer in the jurisdiction of where I'm being pulled over?

Firstly, you haven't provided any evidence that the police officer in this or any particular geographical area has jurisdiction.

if not, then I don't have to stop. If you are, then yes, I need to stop. Otherwise I risk being arrested.

So, the reason you stop is because if you don't, they will use physical force against you? How is that not harassment?

harassment (either harris-meant or huh-rass-meant) n. the act of systematic and/or continued unwanted and annoying actions of one party or a group, including threats and demands.

And that's the world you approve of right?

Could you point me to where I said that I approve of this?

You post about the sins of the state, and then you openly applaud the violence and irrationality of the same. Petit Hellblazer.

FTFY

Did you start drinking early today? That post in no way should be read as an approval of the police state forced upon us. And its even more delusional to think that a slightly graphic depiction is a way to celebrate the brutal realities of a militarized police force.

I have yet to have a police interaction that didnt cause me either financial loss, or inconvenience. My belief is the community can protect itself. We already know this not only can be done, but is already being done. There are thousands of volunteer police (sheriff posses, Constables & fire departments) all over the US proving this point. These communities are living proof that we can and will take care of ourselves. The problem is people get manipulated and/or scared into granting more and more power. Before you know it you're right back to the current situation of having a police that mimic's your millitary.

People who don't understand economics will continue to argue otherwise.

Then I am a fuckup and I apologize for my misunderstanding.
