Can anyone recommend a good xfer service for PayPal -> BTC Bitcoins ?

Send PP -> get BTC
It's not impossible, but it's risky. MtGox stopped doing business with pp back in 2010... Paypal themselves is very belligerent against bitcoin, as these guys found out:

http://coinpal.ndrix.com

If you absolutely have to use PP, skim through this page to find one that accept them:

Bitcoin Currency exchanges Archives - Bitcoiney Bitcoin Directory

..But expect to lose up to 20% of your value in fees to paypal.

Just used Coinbase for the first time. Seems really simple and easy to use. Also going to setup a site of mine to accept BTC as a payment method.

5.00 BTC will arrive in your Coinbase account on Thursday Mar, 14 2013.

BitInstant of course, but I doubt they'll do WU.

Buying bitcoins is still the only undesirable part of the entire bitcoin experience, which is obviously something many businesses are working on ATM. I see millions of ppl asking how to get them faster across the web, and invariably someone always mentions localbitcoins.com... For now, at least, this looks like the only fast way to buy a bitcoin; get it in person.

I'll be talking about this issue on my blog a lot too.

Thereby defeating the purpose altogether.
False. It's still the same amount of money... 21 million ^8 units is something in the quadrillions of units of bitcoin and there always was that many units starting in 2033 and always will be that # of units because never will another unit be printed. (Of course lots of wallets will be lost over the years, but oh well.)

BTW I just remembered another fast way to get your hands on BTC:

At BitInstant there are a few options to use store-bought gift cards. CVS, Albertsons, WalMart, and some other stores you may know have gift cards on their shelves that you can buy there and transfer the balance to bitcoin through BitInstant for a 1% fee.

Party on. :banana_sml:

Dang, I wished these guys (avalon, BFL) were a little bit more organized with their biz setup :disgust: . Otherwise I wouldn't hesitate ordering or pre-ordering couple of these ASIC units and test out this whole bitcoin mining thingy. (Wished these geeks partnered up with someone who knew how to run a small bizness ;) Live and learn I guess... ).

Or more than likely, it's as big as our fingernail. Haven't you really noticed that CPUs stopped getting more powerful years ago? Remember back in the day when it seemed like every year new computers were coming out twice as powerful? Nowadays, you buy a computer and 4 or 5 years later, it's still pretty decent. 10 - 15 years ago, your computer would have become a paper weight within two years at the most.

Moore's law dictates computer technology is still increasing, so what happened there? What's Intel been up to lately? They decided they've worked hard enough, put their feet up, and are having a relax? Or maybe, new innovative computing technology is still being developed, but just not being made available to us. I'd say the latter is closer to the truth.

I can tell you why, if you care to listen to lil ol' pewep

There will be no more coins mined, ever, after the year 2033. Good thing they are divisible down to 0.00000001 bitcoins.

Always thought that was a good thing to have, i.e. Fixed money supply. That excess growth of the money supply or Inflation = Bad, since it means continued erosion in purchasing power. The kind of mess we're currently in due to continued printing of fake paper money.

Sure, bitcoin mining might end in 2033, but if bitcoins still exist as a viable form of currency, then I would imagine the buying and selling of stuff using bitcoins would still continue? It just means no increase in the BTC supply. It would also mean the continued rise in the price/value of BTC in relation to the USD since USD would continue to inflate with continued printing of fake/paper USD money. 1 BTC = $300 USD :D

We know these things are made in china, why not go straight to the company they are outsourcing to...?

That was easily the best introduction to bitcoin for libertarians I've ever heard. Voorhees knows his stuff!

It sounds like Tom is another faculty at Mises that is pro-bitcoin now... Pretty soon Guerilla will be the last AnCap left that doesn't own any! ;)

Oy vey...

Please remember that I promoted ASICs, not specifically Butterfly Lab's ASICs. There is still a lot of speculation (Look at the betting links earlier in this thread) that BFL is either incompetent or an outright scam; their initial order has been delayed since October, for instance.

The day someone like Shady here gets a unit from BFL, I'll be sending them a big fat bunch of bitcoins... But until then I'm buying Avalon because they've shipped working product before.

I'm still hoping for the best though with BFL. Good luck.

I'm probably too late to the game but worth the investment for a small risk.
You're not too late at all... This is just the beginning, and miners will be spending the rest of this year and likely most of next year upgrading their equipment... If your order is shipped in the next month I have no doubt you'll make your money back in a few days flat.

FYI, if you want to make some quick cash, consider litecoins.

I've just about doubled my investment in a week. They are quickly becoming the #2 crypto currency.
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.

Literally. Read up on the 51% attack and you'll see that litecoin survives only by the good graces of the bitcoin community.

The difficulty hasn't skyrocketed yet... And these things are just trickling out there, so it's possible if he gets it soon.

My feelings as well. Been reading up on a few bitcoin forum threads where there's posts & responses between the owners of BFL, Avalon, and the customers who've pre-ordered. Not very encouraging to say the least. Delays, delays, and more delays. Gonna sit on the sidelines until these guys get their act together and start shipping out products.

The early-adopters, GPU-miners, and botnet owners love to keep people skeptical so they can keep the difficulty low and profits high. It happens with every new product.
