You've got 25k to pend on a car, what do you buy?

I only barely skimmed the thread so I guess I'll be that dude who has no clue about what has already been said. But anyways I'd say you buy a used 3-series. I was looking for a 2003-ish M3 when I first started making good cash from AM in 2006 and randomly came across a great deal on a 2003 BMW 330Ci, ended up buying that instead. I've had it for almost 4yrs now, spent maybe $1k total on maintenance since I've owned it. You could probably find one of those around $14k now if you look patiently on places like bmw forums, ebay, etc.

Possibly a huge pro/con, depending how you wanna look at it...the back seat only fits 1 average height/weight 24yr old guy. If you have a family, that probably sucks. Personally I love it, nobody ever wants me to drive to the bar,

This. I've always felt this way with people buying low-end models of certain car brands, esp w/ high miles. If I was you I would buy a year old Ford Fusion from a private seller w/ low miles at a good price, pay a bit under with cash and then get back to work. Good luck.

This is my debate. Thats the practical answer. I wouldn't be going high miles though, maybe 40-50k. My current car is a 15 yr old suburu outback with over 100k miles on it.

Don't buy an Audi, I have had nothing but trouble with mine and my Father has had the same experience. Unless you can get a newer Audi that is still under warranty Id buy a BMW personally.

This thing will ride the fuck out on almost any other car you pull up next to and yet it looks so innocent.

My friend has got one of them, although he had it tweaked by Arden, goes like a rocket ship that's just sat on a pin. Super understated cars.

I think you should get an Audi RS4, the old 2.7 Twin Turbo, fast as fuck, fairly cheap and reliable. You might even be able to pick up the 4.2 RS4, which leaves M3's of the same age for dead.

My mom drives a Honda Fit sports model around. It's a beautiful car, handles great, and is extremely comfortable. But if I was you, I'd go with the car that I used to drive around:

You'll have some money to spare, people will stare, you'll get 40mpg, have more space than a Jeep Liberty, and it's the only car I know of that is actually appreciating in value (older model, since the new one sucks).

Not only that, but I took my Scion xB through four flips and a 50 yard slide across a asphalt and gravel road on the driver's side, and it help up well. Kept me alive at least.

It's like an SUV for those who really don't need the sports utility.

The ford fusion is really nice...I almost got one a few months ago...a friend of mine got the new taurus and that's really nice...almost on par with german cars...but thats a 40k car, not a 25k car...And I completely understand your reasoning behind getting a cheaper car, simply because they lose value quickly, and they all basically do the same thing.
